International Account Opening Has Never Been Easier!
We understand that during this time it’s not possible for many international students to open their HUECU account in person, so we’ve created a simple process for you to open your account remotely.
Have the following documents ready:
- Copy of a valid passport
- Copy of your Harvard acceptance letter
Please fill out our online form, and attach your documents before submitting. You will receive a confirmation email when your application is submitted.
TIP: If you forget to attach your supporting documentation in the online form, you can do so using our Document Uploader.
What to Expect:
Your account will be opened within 10 days of receiving your application and supporting documentation. Once your account is opened we will send your account information in a secure email, as well as instructions for accessing HUECU’s Online Banking and Mobile Banking App.
Important Things to Note:
Debit Cards & Checks can only be requested and issued once you arrive in the United States. Once you’re here, you can update your mailing address, and submit a request.
Initial Deposit for your HUECU account must be received within 60 days of the date your account is opened, and may be sent to HUECU via wire, or received as a direct deposit from Harvard University if you are receiving a graduate student stipend, or credit balance refund. A Note for Education Loan Borrowers:
If you’re establishing your account to satisfy the membership requirement for your education loan, and only opening your required share savings account, please visit our Education Loan Application Steps page for instructions to apply. This has a shorter processing window and typically will take 2-3 business days.
